This club builds sisterhood, self-confidence, and science literacy while giving girls entering 1st-5th grade a great opportunity to spend time with their friends. Each meeting will explore a different topic and will always include hands on activities sure to engage both past and new participants. This spring, girls will enjoy field trips to local organizations, businesses, and research facilities. It is a fun and engaging environment, where girls will develop critical thinking skills including predicting, experimenting, observing, interpreting and communicating. Girls will work together in groups to do experiments and activities. The Girls do Science Club meets Monday evenings from 3:45-5:30pm beginning March 25 and running through June 3. Lego Robotics: This is a great opportunity to learn robotics basics by working with LEGO Mindstorms®. Participants will build models, attach sensors and motors that are plugged into a computer, and configure behaviors using a simple programming tool. The curriculum is dynamic and fun with explorations in science, math, technology and engineering concepts. Participants are challenged by working with various problems hands-on, and solving them by using their own ideas and working together with others. All sessions will take place on Sundays approximately once per month. Please note that occasionally the club will meet on a different day of the month to accommodate holidays and other celebrations (e.g. Mother’s Day, New Years, etc.).
